Our month has been full of activity so far. Here are a few highlights.
We are playing Double + or - One with our math partners.

We created  ANIMAL TEETH booklets.

We celebrated our 60th day in school. Here we are completing our 6th Decade Day page. 

We are learning about how animal parents take care of their offspring. 

Animals have different feet. 

Which animal has feet for catching prey?

Which animal has feet meant for swimming? 

Match the animal to its feet. 

 How is a bird beak different from a duck's beak?
How is a pelican's beak unique?
Let's test them out? What did you learn?

Animals use camouflage and mimicry to survive. 

Can you spot the moths on our trees?

How do animals move? 

Do they slither, fly, walk/run, crawl, or hop?

My family hides a pickle

Every year we make or buy a new ornament. This one is from when I was a baby.

Only two weeks until our holiday vacation. We will begin our non-fiction writing unit this week. For Fundations spelling, we will learn that s can make a /s/ or /z/ sound. S is also used as a suffix at the end of words to make them plural. First spell the base word and then add the suffix. Each week we continue to add sight words to our list of spelling words that all first graders should read and spell correctly. Let me know if you would like a current list. Thank you for continuing to read each day with your child. They should be reading "Just Right" books to you every day.
