January has been flying by for us. We have been very busy learners.
Below we are practicing Phoneme Grapheme Mapping. This is tapping each sound (phonemes) in a word and putting the graphemes (letters) in each box to represent those sounds.
On Monday we enjoyed a comical story about what snowmen do at night.
Then we created snowmen scenes.
This week we began Nonfiction reading and writing units.

We also learned how to be a good reading partner.
Martin Luther King Jr. wanted us all to spread PEACE.
This week students began writing their first non-fiction teaching books.
Ask your child what they're writing about.
and writing ...

During Reading Workshop - readers where telling their stuffies about their new learning as they read.
This month our calendar teaches about solving equations with missing addends and sums. It also includes story problems.
We are learning to add and subtract on a number line.
We are working on this week's Scholastic News article. We always start with a video and then read the article. This week's magazine was about Martin Luther King Jr.
Quiet Time and Free Choice fun
