Welcome back to our 1st grade blog1
Below are photos from our first few days of school.
The first few days of school are designed to be fun days with exploration and adventure. Our goal is to begin to build our classroom community and practice new routines.
Here we are exploring the math tools.
We are enjoying a morning recess. We read the book, No David by David Shannon. David was having difficulty on the first day of school. We are offering him some advice for following expectations. Our names are unique and special.
Our monarch caterpillars are growing and changing.
Our chrysalis illustrations
We are creating an "All are Welcome" banner.
Free Choice Fun!
This is a math game called "Flip and Write".
Students flip the card and trace that number.
We are beginning our reading lessons with nursery rhymes. Nursery rhymes help build reading fluency and confidence. We are using popiscle sticks to create tally marks for given numbers.
This has been a great first week. I hope you are hearing all about it at home. I look forward to seeing you all at our "Back to School Open House". We are excited to have a field trip coming soon. Information will be in the Friday Home-School Folders. Please also look for our first Scholastic Book Order. Our first Share/Show & Tell day is next week. Please check the schedule.
