We've been a very busy class since our Winter Break. We knew that Spring was near when "Crasher" (our black swallowtail butterfly) hatched from his cocoon last week. He's been hanging out by the window with orange slices and sugar water ever since.

We experienced a very interesting 4-Winds lesson. We learned lots of facts about White Tailed Deer.

We all went into the dark back room to see if we could see the drawing in the darkness. 

Can sound travel through yarn?

Can you hear the vibrations?

What happens if you touch the tuning fork?

How's your hearing? Can you find your partner?

Hmmm - so what is happening when we hear an echo?  How can bats find their way in the dark?

We enjoyed a visit with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra.

We celebrated Reading to End Racism Week at CCS.

Our whole school enjoyed a read-aloud by Laban Hill, who read his book Dave the Potter.

Conferences will continue on Monday. Next week will continue to write poetry including couplets, haiku, alliterations, etc. On Thursday a team of educators will observe our class during our Math Studio Day.
