Wow - just one more week until Thanksgiving break. This week we created a turkey quilt during math. Our quilt has many patterns. We can count by 5s with our turkeys.  Ask your child about it.

Mrs. Nelson made wonderful cards with us for the hurricane victims in Florida and Texas. We mailed them in the Library. 

We are making whole, 1/2 and 1/4 fraction cookies and pizzas that go with our November calendar.

Our Animal unit is well under way.

We are sorting Living and Nonliving things. Ask your child what makes something "living". They learned that living things need water, food, air, and space. They all grow, move, reproduce, and eventually die.

Cuentos: Tales from the Latino World

Cuentos paints a vivid picture of the people and rich cultures of the Spanish-speaking world with colorful tales from the Caribbean, South America, and the Bronx! From the silly antics of the Puerto Rican anti-hero “Juan Bobo” to the mysterious dealings and powers of the Orishas in a suite of Afro-Cuban stories, these tales are filled with memorable characters, fantastic plots and positive messages for children. Spanish language words are sprinkled throughout the stories and songs of “Cuentos: Tales from the Latino World” in such a way that young audiences can repeat and retain their sound and meaning. Solid entertainment and a great introduction to the marvelous world of Latino literature and culture.

The weather is very chilly most days now. Your child should come prepared for cold weather. Please send them everyday with warm coats, hats and mittens. Boots and snow pants are also encourage on really cool days. The teachers will send them in if they are not dressed for the weather. If your child comes with boots, they must bring a pair of extra shoes for the classroom. The boots stay in the hallway because they are often wet or muddy. You may leave a spare pare at school if that is most helpful. Please be sure that your child's spare clothes include pants, socks, underwear, and a long sleeve shirt.
