I can't believe it's already May and the weather is really starting to warm up! We are down to 6 weeks of school with a lot learning left to do. Next week we will begin new reading workshop and writing workshop units. We are currently learning about suffix s and es, with only one more Fundations unit to follow. We are also moving ahead with Unit 7 and 8 in Bridges Mathematics.
On Monday one of our last two book orders will be sent home along with a note about what we are currently learning in math. Please send back your child's silver Home School folder on Monday to be refilled.

As a continuation of our Disability Awareness learning, we watched a video about Christopher Reeves, and we learned about adapted sports.

 Children with physical disabilities are enjoy sports just like children without a disability.

This is Shaquem Griffin. He is a talented UCF football player with just one hand. We cheered for him and his team at my daughters' college games.

We are busy reading during WIN with some students from Ms. Lubic's class. 

 We are learning that the sun changes its position in the sky during the day. As the sun appears to move from east to west in the sky, shadows move too. Here we are moving shadows by changing the location of the light source.

 On Friday we visited the Flynn Theater to watch How I Became a Pirate. We read the pirate books first at school.
