I hope you are enjoying the 3 day weekend and our beautiful new snow. Happy birthday MLK Jr.
Our class has been learning to read non-fiction texts features. Below are a few photos of students on a feature hunt using non-fiction texts.
First Grade Writer's Workshop & Word Study: As first graders continue to write teaching books, we are working on: introducing our topic, naming facts about our topic (try comparisons, labels, etc.), and writing conclusions. We then focus on editing. Writers go from being the writer to being the reader, thinking, "Does this match what I know about how to write this kind of writing well?" In word study, we began learning about consonant blends and the snap words: would, could, should.

Our 100th Day is only 20 school days away.
