During Reading Workshop we continue to focus on reading non-fiction texts.

2nd Grade Writers

They have focused our writing class on word study spelling multisyllabic words and learning
to divide them into their syllable chunks,  The next spelling unit will focus on the r control
syllables ar and or.  The new snap words are: world, answer, different. Second graders are also writing more nonfiction teaching books. Their folders are bursting with books! 

First Grade Writer's Workshop & Word Study: This week, first graders worked hard on the three parts of informational writing: introductions (hook your reader & name your topic), teach facts, and conclusions (connect back to your introduction - This is where you say 'goodbye' to your reader!) We are also working hard on using our best letter formation, with no reversals, and writing in complete sentences that include: capital at the beginning, complete idea, spaces between words and end punctuation.
