Happy March. I hope you all had an enjoyable week during the school vacation. It is hard to believe that it is already almost mid-March. I look forward to conferencing with you all soon. 

Our class has been learning about the habits of good readers. We have practiced these skill independently and with a reading partner. 

Every Wednesday we incorporate arts and crafts activity into our learning. This week we completed kindness art.

March 8th was Holi. Holi is a festival that is celebrated primarily in India each spring. It symbolizes inclusiveness and new beginnings. This book is part of our new collection of books about Diversity. 

We are excited to start a new science unit. The unit focuses on living and non-living things. It teaches about animals and their offspring. We will also study animal traits and learn about animal mimicry and biomimicry.

We are feeling ¨JUST DUCKY¨ about this art project. Is spring really starting this month?

We are learning tricks for solving addition equations quickly.

Today the 3rd graders lead our school-wide morning meeting. It was exciting to have 2 Champs joining us. We also had a school-wide celebration because as a school we filled our large penny jar for following school expectations. It will be exciting to see which non-profit organization the money will be donated to.

We are learning how to fill each others buckets and our own by being kind and making good choices. 

We created water color backgrounds and added black silhouettes. 

This book inspired our silhouettes. 

We are completing our weekly Scholastic News. 

Below we are playing Spin to Win. This game helps us practice adding 10 to a number. It also helps us use the trick of pretending the 9 is a 10 to solve equations with 9 + another number. 

We just completed a "Me on the Map" unit. The focus is on where we live: our home, street, town, state, country and continent. This teaches students how to zoom out from where they currently are.
