Welcome Back! We have lots of new photos to share as our class continues to practice letter formation and review letter sounds. We are learning about the life cycle of apples and butterflies. We are using math tools to practice ways to make 10. We will continue to learn Nursery Rhymes for one more week. Here are a few photos.

We've had some amazing weather days.

This is a game of Flip and Write.

It's been awesome watching our caterpillars make chrysalis' and begin to hatch. We should be letting a few more butterflies go this week. 

We are making tally marks for various numbers.

Each week we read a Scholastic News magizine and watch their quick educational video clip.

This is the photo card from our most recent Second Step lesson. Second Step is a weekly Social Emotional learning program. It focuses on teaching students to focus attention, listen, be assertive, use positive self-talk. It also guides them in problem solving strategies. 

We are using the number rack to find ways to make 5 and 10. 

Many students have shared their favorite nursery rhymes. We even enjoyed listening to nurse rhymes in different languages. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star seems to be a favorite of several students. 

Our class wrote about being a family at school.

Show Me the Numbers. For this game we roll a 10 die. We put that many chips on our tens mat and then make an equation by counting how many more we need to make 10.

Prior to our field trip we are leaning about apples.
