It has been so nice to get to know this wonderful class of first graders. We had a very busy three days. Please enjoy looking at the photos below with your child. 

 

On the first day of school we read David Goes to School. David had difficulty following the school rules in this silly book. 

We wrote about a few school rules that David should follow by thinking about our school-wide expectations. We´ve already started earning Champ Treats.

 

We began our math lessons this week learning about our brains and the importance of having a growth mindset. 

Then we tried out a lot of our math tools.

We are so thankful that Asher brought in several Monarch caterpillars for us to investigate. We are learning about their life cycle.

This week we also drew self portraits.

We are practicing penmanship. On the first day we practiced writing upper case letters. Now we will work on two lower case letters a day until we practice the whole alphabet. In first grade correct letter formations becomes very important. 

Hangin out with a good book in the reading corner. 

Sharing will begin this week. Miss Lizzy and Mrs. Boffa both came in to share their favorite nursery rhyme.
