During Reading Workshop we are reading books in a Series. Yesterday we met with our "Book Club" members. Everyone in our club is reading a book from the same series, but not necessarily the same book. We have been taking notes and sharing how the characters in our books face and solve problems. Their character traits are usually similar in each book of the series.
During Writing Workshop students have been writing paper blog posts and commenting on each others posts using sticky notes. This has been to prepare students to write their own real blog post using KidBlog. They will be writing about their favorite Red Clover book. Mrs. Heustis has been reading them several of these books in the Library. Ask you child what their paper blog post was about. What were some of the comments they received?
Our Unit 6 math unit is Geometry. Students will:
Identify, describe, draw, and create 2-D shapes based on their defining features ❚ Explore the area of shapes, especially rectangles ❚ Split whole shapes into 2, 3, or 4 equal parts called halves, thirds, or fourths/quarters ❚ Recognize that equal parts of identical wholes do not need to be the same shape
I look forward to meeting with all of you during our Spring Parent Teacher Conferences. Please continue to send snow-pants and other outdoor gear. On really cold days, students will be asked to borrow spare gear from a collection in the Nurse's Office if they do not have what they need to stay warm. Our Share Theme for this month is listed on our class website. Please send in favorite Fairy Tales or Fairy Tale items. Thank you.
