Measuring with centimeters. Army ants feed in large swarms - 14 cm wide. We are outside measuring that width. Watch out - they are headed right toward you. 

 We have started out Fairy Tale unit. Our first week we spent studying Cinderella stories from around the world. Here are a few.

Students partnered up to Guess the Fairy-tale!

During WIN students will be performing Readers Theater Fairy Tales. Here they are practicing with their group. Ask your child what character they are.

 Our Flynn Theater Companion Workshop guest is teaching all about theater performances and Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters.

Our plant unit began with seed investigation. Thank you for sending in the fruits and veggies. We observed dry and wet (soaked 24 hours) seeds. When students dissected the seeds, they located the seed coat, food storage, and embryo.

The Humane Society visited our school to teach us about animals and how to safely approach a dog.

Happy Birthday Timmy!

The class was excited to hear that we've completed our Fundations units for 2nd grade. We will spend the remainder of the year practicing 2nd grade trick words. We may also learn more about contractions. Homework for the remainder of the year will be a math Homelink. Occasionally I will attach an additional worksheet for extra practice. Lexia, Fast Math, and Typing Club will also continue to be linked to our website. Thank you for all your support with homework this year. :) Have a wonderful April break. I will update the blog when we return.
