Another busy week in 1st Grade.
Beautiful, beautiful butterflies!
We are beginning to make butterflies below. Photos will be shared once they are finished.
Measuring with Popsicle sticks
Mrs. Nelson visits our classroom every week. We are learning some very important skills.
This month we've been collecting coins each day. How many coins have we collected in three weeks?
Here are a few of our estimates.
Let's count our coins to see the total.
A parent teaches us about food allergies with a wonderful book.
A fun brain and body break with Go Noodle
Two more fabulous butterfly shares
Reading alone and with partners

Thank you for signing up for our fall conferences. This week we will continue to practice correct letter formation. We will read with reading partners this week. Our partners read similar "just right" leveled books. Each day we begin reading with a mini lesson. We've been learning how to take a "sneak peak", reread to learn more, use the pictures, tap out tricky words, retell the important parts, etc. This week we will finish up our "Small Moment" personal narratives. Your child may ask you for writing ideas such as losing a tooth, building a sandcastle, breaking the pinata, catching the fish... The topic ideas should be small and detailed. We think watermelon seed instead of the whole watermelon. The most important part rather than the whole day. I look forward to sharing their stories with you during our conferences.
Have a great week!
