We are designing 9 piece quilt squares and learning about rotational symmetry.

During Science we are learning about animals and their offspring. The learning topics include: Living vs. Nonliving things, Some baby animals look like their parents and some do not., Animals parents protect their young in different ways, animal feet, animal teeth, animal adaptations. Engineers copy animal traits to create useful human tools, and so much more. 

We began the unit leaning about living and non-living things.

                                         

Below we are sorting animal babies and their parents. 

We are matching baby birds with their parents based on physical traits. Can you match this baby bird to an adult bird?

For Women´s History Month we learned about Maya Angelou. We created rainbows for our classroom door with our dreams on them.

During wordstudy we practicing ABC order. Students were given several words to put in order by their first and second letters. 

We are partner reading during Reader´s Workshop.

Miss Montgomery taught us about Animal feet.

How are these feet the same and different? How are they useful?

We are sorting feet with how they are useful.

We also learned about animal teeth.

We are sorting how animals move. Do they crawl, swim, fly, slither, walk/run?

Animals Covering Dominoes

For Women´s History Month we learned about Lois Mailou Jones. She created art inspired by geometrical shapes.

We have been learning about camouflage. The Mystery Science video showed us how animal coverings help animals hide in their environments. We tried to find the moths hidden on the tree trunks. Can you spot them?

 

Then we made our own moths and hid them in the room. 

We are learning about how animal traits help inspire engineers to create useful object that humans can use to mimic animals.
